Writing any kind of poem can be quite difficult, especially if you don't know how to express the way you feel with words. However, just because you are not the greatest poet in the world, does not mean you have to go without a poem this wedding anniversary. Instead of giving up, you can simply draw inspiration from pre-existing poems, or you can keep your poem short, concise and simple. There are plenty of poems available online that you can use to spice up an anniversary gift, or to add an intimate touch to the end of your anniversary dinner. If you are wanting to writ your own poem, then you may want to use some of the following tips.
You always want to start and finish your poem powerfully. Starting with something that grabs your audiences attention is extremely important. Of course you really don't want to jump right into the metaphors and analogies, so you should focus on “warming your audience”. A good way to begin the poem is with a greeting such as “ Here is a toast to the two of you” or “ Dear love”. As the poem progresses you'll want to make sure you consider all of your possibilities. Instead of settling on the first thing that comes to mind, be sure to weigh all of your literary options before you decide to add a line to the poem. A four line poem that takes 15 minutes to write will usually be far more memorable than a 40 line poem that takes only 10 minutes to make. Remember that the content of the poem is critical, and that each line must have just as much impact as the previous one.
